Ever since EVO ended last month, Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi had a tough time finding consistent success. In the current weather of rising Street Fighter stars, players like Sim “NL” Gun, Cristopher “Caba” Rodriguez, and EVO champion Benjamin “Problem X” Simon are taking over the scene. In the last two events Tokido attended, he did not finish in the top eight. Knowing his constant top-eight finishes in prior events, recent showings were uncharacteristic for Tokido. Going into the event, Tokido sat in third in the Capcom Cup standings. Calm, cool, and collected, Tokido went into the battlefield with one thing in mind — win Tokyo Game Show.

Echo Fox looks to continue their best year yet in fighting games. Players coming off championship wins like Justin “JWong” Wong and Dominique “SonicFox” McLean are continuing their momentum from EVO and Dreamhack Montreal. Even though EVO is behind the player’s minds, the year does not stop for fighting games. SoCal Regionals in Ontario, California took place last weekend for pride and points towards the Capcom Pro Tour, Tekken World Tour, and Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour.

The road to EVO is almost at a close. Before the FGC heads to Vegas for EVO, the prelude starts at Florida for CEO 2018. It was a momentous event with the collaboration with New Japan Pro Wrestling. CEO is the first event where a wrestling organization teamed up with an esports organization. Together, they brought an NJPW house show to the event where NJPW stars such as Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Jushin “Thunder” Liger performed for the FGC. In addition to the house show, Echo Fox looked to continue their dominance in the FGC with top place finishes in CEO 2018.

NA LCS 2018 Summer Split Week 2 Recap

Echo Fox continued where they left off in dominating fashion from Spring Split. Last week, they faced FlyQuest and convincingly won after making a risky role swap. The following day, a rematch of the third-place match from Spring Playoffs occurred against Clutch Gaming. Echo Fox made another risky move with a role swap involving Huni and Dardoch. This move worked in Echo Fox’s favor as they won the game. They ended the first week undefeated and at the top of the standings. Does Echo Fox have more tricks up their sleeves in Week 2?
