After a successful run at Canada Cup, the Foxes made their way to Rennes, Bretagne for Stunfest 2018. Notable attendees included Daigo “The Beast” Umehara, Seonwoo “Infiltration” Lee, and Goichi “GO1” Kishida. Echo Fox players in attendance were Victor “Punk” Woodley and Yusuke Momochi.
Both Punk and Momochi qualified for the Top 32 in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition; however, they were placed in the loser’s bracket. Punk went one-on-one against Olivier “Luffy” Hay where Punk came out on the losing end, thus ending his run at Stunfest. Momochi, on the other hand, went against a tough opponent, MOV. He emerged victorious with a 2-0 sweep and faced Arman “Phenom” Hanjani next. The former Capcom Cup champion was not able to defeat Phenom and ended his run in the Top 24.
Following Street Fighter V, Punk and Momochi set their eyes on Dragon Ball FighterZ. They fared a lot better in this game as both qualified for Top 12, but their first opponent was each other. Punk defeated his fellow Fox, sending Momochi to the loser’s bracket against Eifi. On his quest to get to grand finals, Momochi conquered Eifi, then went against Ryo “Dogura” Nozaki. Dogura was a tough opponent for Momochi and Momochi did not advance further into the tournament. For Punk, he faced another tough opponent, Tachikawa. Punk was not able to defeat Tachikawa and was brought to the loser’s bracket. From there, his opponent did not get easier — he faced another former Capcom Cup champion, Ryota “Kazunoko” Inoue. Kazunoko overwhelmed Punk and sent him out of the tournament.
While Punk and Momochi could not duplicate identical success from Canada Cup, the two represented Echo Fox well. In Street Fighter V, Punk placed in twenty-fifth place and Momochi finished in seventeenth place. In Dragonball FighterZ, both players fared near the top of the standings. Momochi finished in seventh place, while Punk finished in fifth place. Echo Fox’s next stop is a major FGC event, Combo Breaker 2018. Expect Echo Fox to mark their territory in Chicago.
