Dot Esports reported this week that Hwang “EFFECT” Hyeon took time away from the team to go back to South Korea. His leave of absence was due to the fueling problems within the team. Prior to the Overwatch League, the Dallas Fuel was highly touted to be a top contending team because of prior results from Overwatch APEX as Team EnVyUs.

Thus far in Overwatch League, they are unable to live up to expectations. Dallas Fuel has not qualified for any stage playoffs and currently stand at 10th place in Stage 3 with a record of 1-5.

Drama in Dallas

An accumulation of the team’s struggles and drama regarding former teammate Félix “xQc” Lengyel and head coach Kyle “KyKy” Souder took a mental effect with all members of Dallas Fuel. EFFECT’s frustration with the team was visible during their match against the Houston Outlaws. Post-match, EFFECT visibly sighed and was clearly shook with another loss.

EFFECT responded to his time away via Twitter,

“After a break, I’ll show good skill and solid mental condition. Sorry to worry everyone.”

The Dallas Fuel is currently looking for a new head coach. With frustrations brewing further internally, a new coach could bring life to the team and raise spirits. Perhaps, the team needs to prioritize a mental break, focus on themselves, and take things one at a time before things implode.
